The International Swimming Federation announced today, Sunday, that Beijing will host the World Aquatics Championships in 2029, marking the return of the event to China for the first time after an absence of nearly 20 years.
The Federation stated that China won the rights to organize and host the championship, which includes swimming, artistic swimming, diving, water polo, and other competitions. Shanghai previously hosted the championship in 2011.
The 21st edition of the championships is currently taking place in the Qatari capital, Doha, until February 18th.
Singapore will host the next edition of the championship in 2025, while the following edition in 2027 will take place in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
