China has donated $3 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to support its emergency humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

This contribution comes at a critical time, addressing the urgent needs of the population affected by the ongoing conflict.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Xinhua News Agency. Zeng Jixin, Head of China’s Office to Palestine, signed the donation agreement on Thursday with Antonia Marie De Meo, Deputy Commissioner-General for Operational Support at UNRWA.

Zeng highlighted China’s consistent support for UNRWA's effective execution of its mission. He emphasized China's call for the international community to back the agency's work, noting that China had provided emergency cash assistance to UNRWA following the outbreak of conflict in Gaza last year.

Zeng reiterated China's commitment to the Global Security Initiative and its cooperation with the international community to end the fighting in Gaza, alleviate the dire humanitarian situation, and implement the two-state solution.

Antonia Marie De Meo expressed gratitude on behalf of UNRWA for China's continuous support, underscoring the significance of the contribution.

She also expressed her willingness to enhance cooperation with China to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
