China Detects New COVID-19 Spot

New data released by China showed a new COVID-19 spot, Dalian, in the state which sees a dramatic surge in infections' rate, RT reported on Friday.

52 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the coastal city located in Liaoning Province northeast China to be the country's second COVID-19 spot after Heihe.

Therefore, several Chinese regions applied strict measures to control the emergence of the virus such as Heihe that imposed a lockdown in the whole city.

In addition, Shenyang located in the same province, started applying the "Zero-COVID" strategy, including quarantining foreign travelers for 56 days.

In the same context, China reported on Friday 98 new COVID-19 infections, compared to 62 cases on the previous day.

It is worthy to mention that the state announced officially the presence of a new Coronavirus strain under the name of Heihe.

Therefore, the name of the new variant trended all social media platforms, and google search lists.

Regarding the name of the new variant, “Heihe” carries the name of the first region it was detected in, in addition, the Chinese authorities described it as the most dangerous COVID-19 mutation until now.

Chinese authorities had to impose a lockdown on the whole city to control the surge of infections and to prevent the new variant from emerging in the whole country, especially amid winter.
