China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stated that the conflict in Gaza continues to escalate, and China is calling for an extensive international peace conference that is more reliable and effective, with a concrete timeline for implementing a two-state solution.

Wang made these remarks to reporters following talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, where views on the Israel-Hamas war were exchanged, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

He also pointed out that the conflict in Gaza "causes severe casualties among innocent civilians and leads to serious humanitarian disasters and rapidly expanding negative consequences."

Wang further explained that the infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed, and millions are struggling to survive.

China has decided to provide a third batch of emergency humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

In separate discussions with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, both sides agreed that the international community should take measures to de-escalate the situation and achieve an immediate ceasefire.

Wang and Aboul Gheit emphasized in a joint statement, published by the Chinese state news agency Xinhua late on Sunday, that "countries with influence in particular should play an objective, impartial, and constructive role in this regard."

They also stressed that a two-state solution remains the foundation "for any future arrangements concerning the fate of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem."

Wang is on a tour that includes Egypt, Tunisia, Togo, and Ivory Coast, and concludes on Thursday.

These developments come as the Israel-Hamas war entered its hundredth day, following an attack by the Hamas movement on Israeli towns on October 7 last year, resulting in about 1,140 deaths. about 250 individuals were taken as prisoners during the attack, with 132 of them still in Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.
