China Begins Evacuating Citizen from Iran

China has begun evacuating its citizens from Iran, as regional instability continues to escalate.

According to the state-run China News Service, the first group of Chinese nationals departed Iran on Tuesday, travelling overland from Tehran to Turkmenistan.

The move comes amid rising fears of conflict in the Middle East, particularly following increasing hostilities between Israel and Iran.

Beijing has maintained a neutral diplomatic stance in the conflict but is taking precautionary steps to ensure the safety of its citizens in potentially volatile zones.

This evacuation reflects growing concerns about broader regional fallout, especially as military tensions threaten to destabilise surrounding areas.

China has long-standing economic and energy ties with Iran, including cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and major oil imports, making developments in the region particularly significant for Beijing.
