Chinese lawmakers on Friday approved China’s first energy law that will go into effect Jan. 1, 2025.
The law, which was adopted at a session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, consists of nine chapters, including contents related to energy planning, energy development and exploitation, energy market system, energy reserves, emergency response, energy technology innovation, supervision, administration and legal responsibilities, Xinhua news agency reported.
This law was drafted in accordance with the Constitution; it is designed to promote the development of high-quality energy, ensure energy security nationwide, promote green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development, facilitate active and balanced efforts to achieve peak carbon and carbon neutrality goals, and comprehensively meet the needs of building a modern socialist state.
