The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) officially announced revised working hours for the country’s banking sector during Ramadan 2026, in a move aimed at aligning financial services with the rhythm of the holy month.

According to the statement released Sunday, bank employees will operate from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM throughout the month.

For the public, banks nationwide will open their doors from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, ensuring continued access to essential financial services while accommodating the adjusted daily schedules observed during Ramadan.

The directive applies to all licensed banks operating across Egypt, including major state-owned institutions such as the National Bank of Egypt, and Banque Misr, as well as private and foreign banks.

The Central Bank emphasized that the revised hours are designed to facilitate customer transactions and maintain operational efficiency during the holy month, when working patterns across public and private sectors traditionally shift.

The annual adjustment reflects a longstanding policy aimed at balancing productivity with the social and spiritual dynamics of Ramadan, a period marked by altered business rhythms and reduced daytime activity.

Banks are expected to ensure seamless service delivery within the reduced window, particularly for critical transactions, payroll processing, and corporate operations.
