Michael Carrick is reportedly close to securing a permanent position as head coach of Manchester United FC following an impressive spell in interim charge.
According to talkSPORT, Carrick has emerged as the leading candidate to take over full-time at Old Trafford after guiding the team to a series of strong results.
Since stepping in as interim manager in January, Carrick has collected 23 points from a possible 30, a run that has helped revive the club’s season and push them back into contention.
Manchester United currently sit third in the Premier League table with 55 points, strengthening their chances of securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Thomas Tuchel has ended after he extended his contract with the England national football team for an additional two years, further boosting Carrick’s prospects of landing the role on a permanent basis.
