Total foreign exchange receipts reached 121.9 billion dollars in 2022/2023, compared to 160.5 billion dollars in 2021/2022 , a decreased of 24.0% as a result of the decrease in government receipts, which reached 2.4 billion dollars in 2022/2023.
Total foreign exchange payments reached 135.0 billion dollars in 2022/2023, compared to 185.3 billion dollars in 2021/2022 a decreased of 27.1% This decreased is due to the a decrease in payments on financial account (portfolio investments) to reach 7.6 billion dollars in 2022/2023 compared to 32.3 billion dollars in the previous year.
Group of Arab League countries came at the top of the international groups in contributing to incoming foreign exchange receipts during the year 2022/2023, at a value of 45.6 billion US dollars, or 37.4% of the total receipts. These countries are led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the total receipts reached 18.3 billion US dollars, or 15.0% of the total. The total receipts of the Arab countries, followed by the United Arab Emirates, amounted to 12.8 billion US dollars.
Group of European continental countries came at the top of the international groups receiving foreign exchange payments departing during the year 2022, with a value of 48.1 billion US dollars of the total payments, or 35.6% of the total payments. These countries are led by the United Kingdom, with a value of payments of 12.2 billion US dollars, followed by Germany, with a value of 6.6 billion US dollars. .
The value of cash transactions (receipts and payments) with COMESA countries increased by 25.9% to reach 3.8 billion dollars compared to 3.0 billion dollars in the previous year And achieved the balance of monetary transactions surplus up to 1.73 billion dollars in 2022 /2023.
The value of monetary transactions (receipts and payments) with European Union (EU) countries a decrease in 47.5 billion dollars compared to 53.8 billion dollars in the previous year, decrease of 11.6% with a decrease in monetary transactions balance deficit to 5.1 billion dollars in 2022/2023 , compared to 14.0 billion dollars in the previous year.
