Cairo’s Heliopolis metro station has been decorated with stunning paintings by a number of talented young photographers and artists who have depicted the history of the Heliopolis district and its major sites.
Through a national program titled “Live Portraits and Paintings from Heliopolis,” tens of young artists set up their works to bring culture, art, and heritage closer to the public.
The artists revealed that the program’s primary stage is launched in metro stations, noting that "the project is the first of its kind in Egypt."
The representative of this ambitious program said that they aim to establish interaction between people and art for many reasons: to enhance the public’s taste, improve our relationship with art and beauty, and refine the public’s behavior, adding that their idea intersected with that of the connected with RATP and Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT).
