Cairo Security Directorate adjusts the working hours of workshops and shops in Al-Sagha neighborhood in Al-Hussein, Al-Manakh, and Heliopolis, during the holy month of Ramadan.
A state of discontent prevailed, with the Directorate announcing yesterday the new working hours during the blessed month of Ramadan, from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon.
George Michel, head of the trade union committee for workers in the gold and jewelery industry in the Egyptian Workers' Union, said that these dates will lead to more harm to small manufacturers and traders in light of the recent recession in the markets.
He added, that the "union committee" communicated with the concerned authorities, and then the working hours were modified and workshops and dealers were allowed to work after breakfast from eight until ten thirty in the evening.
Michel indicated that buying and selling operations are active in the markets after breakfast, not before, especially in light of the markets' preparations for the blessed Eid al-Fitr season, with engagement and marriage ceremonies.
