Cairo is named as one of the least expensive cities for expatriates in the world according to the Cost of Living Survey conducted by the leading Mercer.
It comes as the 137th among 209 countries on the list, down 11 spots from 2020.
The survey is based on reviewing the costs of 200 commodities and services in Cairo including accommodation, transportation, household, entertainment, and clothes.
Mercer's aim of such survey is assisting multinational corporations to set the exact salaries for their expertiates.
Regarding Cairo's place on the regional list, It comes the fifth after Tunisia, Algeria, Istanbul, and Rabat.
On the other hand, the most expensive cities for expatriates are: Ashgabat, Hong Kong, and Beirut which climed to 42th on the list due to the economic crisis in Lebanon, and the drop of the Lebanese Lira.
However, the most less expensive cities are: Lusaka, Tunisia, and Windhoek.
