The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have threatened Egypt's Zamalek that they could be excluded from the 2019-20 Champions League because of their concerns with former player Abdoulaye Cisse.

CAF sent a warning letter to the White Knights officials informing them to release all financial dues to the Burkinabe striker to avoid the expulsion from the Champions League. CAF have given the Whites' management a chance until September 30 to pay all the dues to Cisse.

Zamalek have to pay $180 thousand to their former striker, who joined the Confederation Cup winners in 2012 coming from Al Masry.

He left the Whites after only one season, joining Libya’s Al Ittihad, before joining Zamalek again in 2014. The White Knights qualified for the last 32 of the Champions League after defeating Decadaha 13-0 on aggregate.

They will face Senegal's Generation Foot on Saturday, September 14 away, before hosting them in Egypt two weeks later.

It is worth mentioning that the Zamalek won the Confederation Cup for the first time in their history after securing a victory over RS Berkane following a dramatic penalty shootout at Burj Al Arab Stadium (5-3) in May,

In August, Zamalek named the Serbian coach Milutin Sredojević “Micho” as a new manager to lead the Whites as he signed a one-year contract for million and 200 thousand dollars with an option to renew for another season.
