British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer received Lebanese Prime Minister (PM) Najib Mikati at the British Cabinet Office in London.
According to a statement issued by the British Prime Minister’s Office, Starmer expressed his condolences to Mikati for the loss of civilian life in Lebanon due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The two leaders agreed on the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and a political solution in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, highlighting the importance of protecting civilian lives and vital infrastructure in Lebanon.
Regarding the wider regional conflict, Starmer highlighted the need for all parties to de-escalate the situation and work towards a long-term, sustainable peace in the Middle East.
Both leaders also discussed the bilateral relationship between the UK and Lebanon.
