A British cargo ship sank after colliding with a larger container tanker in the North Sea, and rescuers are searching for a number of missing sailors after the accident.
The vessel VERITY, originating from the United Kingdom, collided with a larger container carrier called Polesie, flying the Bahamas flag, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to a spokeswoman for the Central Maritime Emergency Command in Germany.
The accident occurred about 12 nautical miles (22 kilometers) southwest of the German island of Helgoland. A statement said that the "Polesie" tanker was still afloat with 22 people on board.
One dead body was recovered from the collision, whereas two people were rescued, and 4 others are still missing according to the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS), according to DW.
