Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced on Sunday the Azerbaijani army took control of the city of Shusha, the second-largest city in the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.
In a speech aired on the "AZTV" channel, Aliyev said, "Shusha city has been liberated from occupation."
It is worth mentioning that, last Friday, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov announced that his country’s army took over 4 cities and 3 small towns, in addition to more than 200 villages in Karabakh.
Nagorno-Karabakh is a mountain territory that is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but populated and governed by ethnic Armenians.
