US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the United Nations Chief Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, stressed the need to increase and sustain humanitarian aid to Gaza, in addition to continued work to address the security challenges that have hindered the delivery of aid inside Gaza.
The official website of the US State Department stated - in a statement, today, Friday - that this came during the meeting between Blinken and Kaag, in Washington, DC.
Blinken stressed the importance of ensuring effective protection for humanitarian workers, and the importance of reaching a ceasefire agreement that would ensure the release of detainees and help alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
He expressed his continued confidence in the United Nations Chief Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, stressing that the United States of America strongly supports its mandates.
