U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and United Nations General-Secretary Antonio Guterres discussed Tigray over the phone.
During the phone call, Blinken called for "strengthening regional and international efforts to help solve the humanitarian crisis, end atrocities and restore peace in Ethiopia."
They also underlined the importance of an independent, international, and credible probe into reported human rights abuses and violations in Tigray.
Earlier, U.N. said that foreign troops are operating throughout Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region and reports suggest they are responsible for atrocities, apart from the Ethiopian army.
