U.S. President Joe Biden held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to Iraq and consult on regional developments.
Biden voiced full support for the strategic framework agreement with Iraq, lauding Al Sudani’s efforts to boost Iraq’s sovereignty and independence, the White House highlighted in an issued statement.
The two leaders touched upon the Prime Minister’s economic agenda as well as plans to ensure that Iraq’s economy is delivering for its people.
In the same vein, the American President welcomed the upcoming visit by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and an accompanying delegation next week to Washington to further discuss these programs.
Biden and Al Sudani recommitted to ensuring that ISIS can never again threaten the Iraqi people or regional and international security.
