US President Joe Biden confirmed that the Russian leadership was planning to provoke a rift between the Western allies and the NATO, but it failed.
This came during his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, before the start of their bilateral negotiations, held today, Sunday, on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Germany, according to Russia today.
The US president said, that the Russian missile bombing of Kyiv was "barbaric", adding: Russian President Vladimir Putin believed that NATO and our alliance would be pided, but this did not happen and will not happen".
Biden thanked the German chancellor for his efforts aimed at preserving the unity of the West.
Biden expressed his belief that Germany and the United States have the same position on the situation on Ukraine.
The White House said that Joe Biden, the German Chancellor discussed the challenges and threats posed by China.
