US President Joe Biden, Sunday, invited the leaders of Japan and South Korea for a summit in Washington, US Official said.

The leaders met before but for short periods on the sidelines of the G7 summit. The summit was hosted in Hiroshima, Japan.

Tokyo and Seoul, recently, were in odds over issues related to Japan's colonial rule of Korea, slavery, and forced labour.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made huge efforts to fix their mutual ties.

Biden praised the "courageous work to improve their bilateral ties," according to a statement by the White House.

The official revealed that the time for the meeting would be worked out "soon."

G 7 Summit kicked off last Friday as Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received the leaders participating in the summit, and the activities of the summit were concluded Saturday.
