US President Joe Biden said yesterday evening (Wednesday) that the time has come for Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity bullet safes. "I led the fight to ban them (weapons) in 1994, and we can do it again," Biden added, in a tweet via his Twitter account.

Biden said, earlier yesterday, that he announced an executive order on regulating the use of firearms, amid repeated recent fatal shootings in the country. "I have announced an executive order on gun violence to intensify our work to save lives," Biden said in a tweet. "This will keep firearms out of dangerous hands," he added.

And Biden has vowed to take every legal action to move closer to background checks.

The US President cited legislation that gives law enforcement authorities the power to temporarily confiscate weapons from someone who exhibits disturbing behavior that could threaten others.
