Underdogs Benin weathered the storm to secure a 2-2 draw against Ghana in one of the best matches of the tournament so far. The Black Stars Ghana had a player sent off for wasting time mismatch, which caused lots of backlash.

Michael Pote gave Benin a shock second-minute lead in the Group F match before goals from brothers Andre and Jordan Ayew put Ghana 2-1 ahead at halftime of an entertaining roller coaster match. Pote then equalized for Benin, scoring his second goal in the 64th minute.

Benin, taking part in the tournament for the fourth time, had lost eight and drawn one of their nine previous games at the African Cup of nations, the squirrels however held their own very well against the 4 time champions.
