The Indian Cabinet decided to extend the work of the rice and wheat distribution program again for a period of six months, to people included in the Indian Food Program, according to a statement by the press information office, according to the German news agency.
Bloomberg, a US news agency, reported that the statement said the Indian government would spend 800 billion rupees ($5.10 billion) between next April and September to distribute subsidized cereals to about 800 million people.
The statement added that the beneficiaries will receive an additional 5 kilograms of rice and wheat per person every month, in addition to the same previously planned amount of subsided cereals.
