On Tuesday, Belgium's Club Brugge advanced to the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League round of 16 after defeating Italy's Atalanta 3-1.
The match took place at the "Gewiss" Stadium in Italy, in the second leg of the tournament's playoffs.
Club Brugge took a commanding 3-0 lead in the first half through Moroccan-origin player Shams Eddine Talbi, who scored in the 3rd and 28th minutes.
Then, Ferran Jutglà added the third goal in the 48th minute.
In the second half, Ademola Lookman scored the only goal for the Italian side in the 46th minute.
However, his attempts to bring his team back to the game failed after missing a penalty.
The first leg, which took place last week in Belgium, ended with a 2-1 win for Club Brugge, making the aggregate score 5-2 in favor of the Belgian team, sending them through to the Round of 16.
The qualification of Club Brugge could be one of the biggest surprises in the tournament till now.
