On Tuesday, media reports indicated that Barcelona are inching closer to capturing Spain international and winger Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona are now the frontrunner to sign Williams, ahead of Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
He added that the Catalan club have held important negotiations over the last 24 hours.
Plettenberg pointed out that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is currently evaluating the financial feasibility of the deal and whether the player can be registered within the squad, given the restrictions imposed by La Liga.
According to the same source, the potential deal would be a five-year contract with an annual salary of 5 million euros, with Williams set to wear the number 17 shirt if he moves to Camp Nou.
Plettenberg also confirmed that German coach Hansi Flick has made Williams one of his priorities and is pushing the club’s management to complete the deal as soon as possible.
