The Australian government has approved plans to build a massive solar power station in the country's northern region, which is set to become the world's largest solar energy site.
Australian Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek announced that the vast solar farm will generate enough electricity to power three million homes.
The project includes solar panels and batteries, and in a later phase, it will be connected to Singapore via an undersea cable to export energy.
The Sun Cable project, covering an area of 12,000 hectares in the sun-drenched Northern Territory, is expected to generate four gigawatt-hours of electricity for domestic use.
An additional two gigawatt-hours will be exported to Singapore through the subsea cable, marking a significant step in renewable energy development and international energy trade.
