The famous Tropical Botanical Garden in Aswan received 4,225 visitors during the days of Eid al-Fitr.

This was stated by the Director General of the Botanical Garden in Aswan Amr Mahmoud, saying that the garden recorded the visit of 3,350 Egyptians and about 875 foreign tourists during the days of Eid.

Mahmoud said that the Tropical Botanical Garden is one of the most prominent tourist destinations within the city of Aswan, whether for Egyptians or foreigns.

He explained that the garden includes about 720 species of tropical plants and trees that are rare in the world, and was formed by the deposition of silt before the construction of the High Dam on the rocks in the Nile River.

He added that the area on which the garden is currently being built was estimated at about 17 feddans, and it was a place for farming for the people of Aswan and they used it for livestock feed, until the English Lord Kitchener came and turned it into a garden by collecting different seedlings from different countries with his soldiers.
