Aswan Governor: 4000 Tourists Witness Sun Alignment at King Ramses II Temple

Aswan Governor, Maj.General Ashraf Atya said that about 4000 tourists of various nationalities gathered in Abu Simbel, southern Aswan to watch the phenomenon of sun alignment on the face of King Ramses II.

He added that today's sun orthogonality started around 5:53 and continued for 20 minutes.

It is worth mentioning that, the eyes of the world are watching a unique phenomenon embodied by the ancient Egyptians, which is solar alignment on the Holy of Holies in the Temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel that occurs twice every year on February 22 and October 22. 

During the solar alignment,  the sun's rays penetrate the front corridor of the entrance to the Temple of Ramses II with a length of 200 meters until it reaches the Holy of Holies.
