Artist Helmy Abdel Baqi Gives Update on Helmy Bakr's Medical Case

Veteran singer and a member of the Musicians Syndicate Helmy Abdel Baqi provided, Saturday, an update about the health of iconic music composer Helmy Bakr.

Abdel Baqi said that Bakr's medical case is stable, and he is feeling better than yesterday.

The singer added that he is in continuous and direct contact with Bakr.

Bakr was transported to ICU on Friday, the artist's wife told reporters.

She added that transporting the artist came upon the recommendations of the medical staff that is treating him.

He will undergo different examinations and medical tests for a couple of days, and to check the functions of the body.

Bakr was born on 6 December 1937 in Cairo. He graduated from the High Institute of Arab Music and worked as a music teacher upon graduating.

He composed different songs for top music icons like Warda, Nagat, Ali El Haggar, and Medhat Saleh.

He also composed many musicals like Sayadity Al Gamila (My Fair Lady), and Mosiqa Fi Al Hai Al Sharqy (Music at the Eastern District).

Bakr received a number of awards and honors, including the Excellence Award from the former Minister of Information, Safwat Al-Sharif.
