International Egyptian artist George Bahgoury, celebrated his 90th birthday at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, in the presence of a group of caricature fans.

Bahgoury is still practising his passion for daily drawing, which he has been practising daily for 70 years, starting at the Rose Al-Youssef Foundation.

He founded an important caricature school before he received a scholarship to travel to France and stay there for many years.

The book "Port Said" was published in 3 languages, Arabic, English, and French. It was the artist's first work at the age of 25. The book’s first edition was published in 1957 by Dar Al-Fikr in Cairo.

The introduction to the first edition was written by the late artist Hassan Fouad.

On his part, researcher Abdullah Al-Sawy indicated that he was happy to find a copy of the Port Said book in the archives of Dar Al-Kutub, after a research trip that lasted for more than 5 years.

Bahgoury had to bear the expenses of printing 1,000 copies, and Al-Sawy asserted that the importance of the book lies in the fact that it is a caricature documentation of the national epic of the people of Port Said against the tripartite aggression in 1956.

Murad Gatin, the Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, stated that the Russian House welcomed Bahgoury and presented his book, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of the fraternity agreement between Port Said and the Russian city of Volgograd.

The meeting was moderated by Sherif Gad, who awarded him the Russian Sheikh Tahtawi Medal, as a tribute to his great role in art over the years.
