The Armenian parliament failed to debate the dismissal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today due to the lack of a quorum.
Representative Naira Zagrabian told reporters that the deputy speaker of parliament was the only parliamentarian from the ruling coalition who attended the session, and other deputies from the pro-Pashinyan "My Steps" coalition did not attend.
It should be noted that the Pashinyan Alliance holds 88 out of 132 seats in the Armenian Parliament.
The opposition had given the Prime Minister until midnight to resign, due to his signing of the agreement to stop the war in Karabakh.
Armenia hands over some areas to Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan's decision sparked a wave of protests in Armenia after the announcement of the agreement on the night of November 10.
Crowds of protesters gathered in front of Parliament House in Yerevan today, Wednesday, and police began to disperse the demonstrators this evening.
The opposition forces in Armenia, who continue to protest near the parliament building in central Yerevan, have given Pashinyan until 12 midnight local time, to announce his resignation.
The representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Union, Iskhan Sagatlian, said: “We demand Pashinyan’s resignation by 24:00, and in case he did not announce this, the country's parliament must take the appropriate decision."
Earlier, 17 political parties in Armenia organized a demonstration in central Yerevan to demand the resignation of the prime minister.
On Monday, the Armenian Prime Minister, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of the war in Karabakh, a move the opposition considers a surrender to the enemy and a defeat signed by Pashinyan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of Armenia announced yesterday, Tuesday, that the armed forces of the republic will abide by the agreements and called on the people to refrain from actions that would destabilize the situation in the country.
