Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has announced that Armenia does not have any plans to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and already maintains cooperation with the organization.
In an interview with TIN TV, Mirzoyan stated, "We already have cooperation with NATO, participating in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan, and we have increased our presence in Kosovo. This is a form of cooperation."
Mirzoyan further clarified, "If we are discussing the intention to join NATO, then no. Today, this issue is not on Armenia's agenda."
Armenia, a country located in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia, has a complex geopolitical position due to its proximity to various regional powers.
Historically, Armenia has maintained close ties with Russia while also having relations with Western organizations like NATO. However, Armenia's delicate balance between its relations with Russia and the West has influenced its stance on NATO membership.
Despite cooperating with NATO on certain initiatives, Armenia has chosen to refrain from seeking full membership in the alliance.
