The Technical Sports Committee of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers met at the Arab League headquarters to finalize a diverse calendar of athletic events and training programs for 2026.

Chaired by Dr. Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, Iraq’s Minister of Youth and Sports, the meeting brought together representatives from nine Arab nations, including new committee members from Bahrain and Libya. The session focused on strengthening joint Arab action through sports as a tool for regional integration.

Faisal Ghassal, Director of the Youth and Sports Department at the Arab League, announced a robust lineup of upcoming activities. Key highlights for 2026 include the first-ever Electronic Games Championship, a "Peace Marathon" in Somalia, and the Arab School Games in Algeria. Additionally, Egypt will host the "Arab League Cup," a football tournament for embassies, while Bahrain was recognized as the "Capital of Arab Sports Culture" for the year.

"The 2026 programs are designed to be diverse and modern, targeting various segments of Arab youth," Ghassal said.

The committee’s recommendations will be submitted to the Council’s Executive Office for final approval, paving the way for implementation throughout the coming year.
