Arab League: Israeli Decisions Path the Way for Annexation, End of Two-State Solution

Ambassador Mohannad Al-Aklouk, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, has issued a grave warning regarding recent decisions by the Israeli occupation government. Speaking at an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council, Al-Aklouk stated that these measures represent a dangerous escalation toward "de facto annexation" and a direct assault on the two-state solution.

The Ambassador highlighted a systemic policy aimed at expanding colonial settlements and confiscating properties across the occupied West Bank, including Areas A and B. He specifically noted new regulations that allow settlers to purchase and register Palestinian land with fewer restrictions and the transfer of municipal powers in Hebron to the "Civil Administration" of the Israeli military.

Threat to Hebron and Religious Sites Al-Aklouk emphasized that the changes in Hebron threaten the legal and historical status of the Ibrahimi Mosque and undermine the city's social and economic fabric. He warned that such steps foster an environment of apartheid and are intended to "bury the idea of a Palestinian state," as openly stated by some Israeli officials.

A Call for Arab and International Sanctions Describing the current Israeli administration as operating with a "mentality of impunity," Al-Aklouk urged member states to move beyond condemnation. He called for concrete retaliatory measures, including economic, legal, and political boycotts, similar to the global efforts that ended apartheid in South Africa.

Unified Palestinian Territory The Representative reaffirmed the rejection of any attempts to fragment Palestinian land or separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He reiterated that the unity of Palestinian territory based on the 1967 borders remains an unwavering national and Arab priority, alongside the fundamental right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and independent statehood.
