The Arab League convened the fifth Regional Conference of the Arab Forum for Women with Disabilities on 17–18 November 2025, reaffirming its commitment to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities across the region. The meeting, organized by the League’s Social Affairs Sector in partnership with the Arab Organization of Persons with Disabilities and international partners including UNICEF, GIZ, AGFUND, and UN Women, focused on political participation and gender equality under the “Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities 2023–2032.”
In its opening remarks, the League highlighted regional progress since the adoption of the Second Arab Decade in 2013, emphasizing strengthened protections for women with disabilities, particularly in crises and public-health emergencies.
Officials also reviewed the Arab Women’s Development Agenda 2023–2028, which calls for integrating disability perspectives into national policies, expanding gender-disaggregated data systems, and ensuring equitable labor laws and safe, non-discriminatory workplaces.
Conference recommendations will be submitted to the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the Arab Women Committee to support implementation across member states.
