The Arab League hosted the 15th Executive Committee meeting of the Arab-China Friendship Associations at its headquarters, bringing together senior officials, diplomats and representatives from member associations across the Arab world and China.
Ambassador Ali Youssef El-Sherif, Secretary-General of the Arab-China Friendship Associations, said the gathering reflects rapid growth in Arab-Chinese ties, noting expanding cooperation not only among governments but also in cultural, scientific and people-to-people exchanges. He urged member associations to intensify efforts to strengthen mutual understanding amid shifting global dynamics.
Representing the Arab League, Minister Plenipotentiary Nawal Barada highlighted that the association has operated under the League’s umbrella since its establishment in 2006, noting preparations for the sixth Arab-China Friendship Conference in 2026. She stressed the importance of active Arab participation in activities under the Arab-China Cooperation Forum and noted upcoming milestones, including the 70th anniversary of official Arab-Chinese relations and the second Arab-China Summit.
At the close of the meeting, Ambassador El-Sherif presented a shield honoring Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit for his support of the association’s work.
