The Arab League’s Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit convened the 15th meeting of the Intellectual Property Technical Committee on November 19–20, 2025, at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.
The committee is reviewing the recommendations of its 14th session and assessing progress made by its two subcommittees on industrial property and copyright and related rights.
Dr. Maha Bakhit, Minister Plenipotentiary and Director of the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Department, said the committee includes government officials responsible for intellectual property offices across Arab states and plays a central role in coordinating regional cooperation, strengthening awareness, and promoting innovation.
The meeting builds on efforts launched since the committee’s establishment under the Economic and Social Council’s Resolution 57 of 2016.
Key agenda items include the proposed Arab Electronic Registry Platform, supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the launch of a regional network for Technology and Innovation Support Centers, and challenges facing copyright in the age of artificial intelligence.
Government representatives from Arab IP offices are participating in the two-day meeting.
