Arab intellectuals and officials launched the Arab Initiative for the Alliance of Dialogue of Cultures during a conference at the Arab League headquarters, appointing Egyptian academic and media figure Dr. Hanan Youssef as its chief executive, organizers said Thursday.
The announcement came at the close of the Arab intellectual conference, “The Image of Arabs and the Dialogue of Cultures: Future Visions,” attended by diplomats, thinkers and media leaders from across the Arab world.
In her remarks, Youssef said reshaping the global image of Arabs is a “strategic priority” that requires a modern narrative rooted in Arab civilization and its human and cultural contributions. “Dialogue between cultures is no longer optional; it is an essential tool for mutual understanding and correcting distorted perceptions,” she said.
Youssef added that work has begun to form the initiative’s executive committees to strengthen Arab coordination in media, culture and intercultural dialogue amid rapid global changes.
