On Sunday, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr Khaled El Anani received the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Dr Salem Bin Mohammed Al Malik for reviewing the cooperation between Egypt and the ICESCO to preserve the heritage of Egypt.
During the meeting, several updates related to the international conference of facing the illegal trafficking of cultural possessions and the means of their restoration that will be hosted by Egypt.
Both officials discussed the expected date of the conference to give different countries the chance to participate in it.
El Anani asserted the importance of organizing this conference to compete against the illegal trafficking in cultural possessions, and return them back to their homelands.
Moreover, several common interest topics were discussed such as founding funds for preserving heritage, the importance of cultural tourism, and enlisting more Egyptian sites on ISESCO‘s heritage list.
At the end of the meeting, Al Malik handed the minister the certificate of enlisting Al-Roda Nilometer on the organization’s heritage list to be among the previously added Egyptian historical sites such as the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, Siwa’s Shali, Baron Palace in Heliopolis, and others.
Finally, El Anani expressed his sincere happiness for enlisting Al-Roda Nilometer on the list.
