The Ministry of Antiquities started work on rescue excavations in Kom Ashqaw village in Tama district, north of Sohag governorate, after traces of limestone building were found during a sewage project in the site.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Waziri said that the excavation work will carry out the necessary examinations to find out the components of the archaeological blocks.
An early examination of the site unveiled a temple wall consisting of 5 rows, approximately 230 cm wide and blocks representing the god of Hapi as well as other decorative inscriptions, indicating that it is likely to belong to a temple or booth.
