The 43rd World Scout Conference, held in Cairo under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, began its activities on Saturday, and will continue until 23 August.

The conference has the participation of 176 national scouting organizations. Hosted by the Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides, the week-long event includes over 2,000 scout members from 176 countries.

According to its official website, the event is the first in-person conference since 2017, and it provides a unique opportunity for scouts to reconnect, collaborate, exchange ideas, and strengthen unity. It merges the World Youth Forum and conference into a single event, taking scout leaders on an adventure to propel the World Organization of the Scout Movement into its next chapter.

Under the theme “A New Adventure,” the event celebrates scouting’s values and fosters growth and development worldwide while embracing our youthful spirit and sense of fun.

In his address at the 43rd World Scout Conference, Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) Amina J. Mohammed, said: " The Egyptian National Scout Organization, and the World Organization of the Scout Movement for inviting me. And thanks to all the young leaders, youth networks and organizations here today. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the World Organization of Scout Movements – one of the most important youth movements in the world."

"We at the United Nations need your voices and your contributions – because our world is facing significant challenges. New and ongoing conflicts, rising geopolitical tensions, increasing inequalities, polarization and division are challenging us all," DSG noted.

"Our response must always be based on building hope in the present and investing in a better future and since young people will be running that future, the World Scout Conference is more important than ever," she affirmed.

The conference is held every three years, providing members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement with the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the standards, policies, and common goals of the scouting movement worldwide.
