The 20th Century Studios has finally the first teaser trailer for Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Álvarez’s “Alien: Romulus,”.
Álvarez, serves as the director, screenwriter and producer, following his direction of horror movies “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”, “Don’t Breathe”, and the “Evil Dead” remake.
The cast stars David Jonsson (“Industry”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“Madame Web”), Spike Fearn (“The Batman”), and Aileen Wu (“Away from Home”), all of whom will join the previously announced lead, Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”).
“Alien: Romulus” follows a group of young people in a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The footage hints at a return to the same kinds of thrills that audiences experienced back in 1979 with Ridley Scott’s “Alien” — and that James Cameron delivered in the 1986 follow-up, “Aliens.”
Opening with a parade of spaceships reminiscent of the Nostromo and Sulaco, the teaser offers a first look at its cast as the crew navigates dimly-lit corridors, runs from scurrying facehuggers, and delivers shrieks of fear that echo all too viscerally.
“Alien: Romulus” marks the seventh installment in the “Alien” franchise, and the overall ninth involves acid-blooded xenomorphs, including the “Aliens vs. Predator” crossover movies.
Under the Scott Free banner, original “Alien” director, Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer with Michael Pruss (“Our Friend”). Scott and Pruss are joined by producers Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), Elizabeth Cantillon (“Persuasion”), and Tom Moran (“The Donut King”).
“Alien: Romulus” hits theatres on March 20.
