Alexis Sánchez Could Be Ruled Out Until 2020

The Football Federation of Chile announced on Sunday that Inter Milan's forward Alexis Sánchez suffered a tendons injury on his ankle during his national team friendly against Colombia. 

The Chilean international left the field in the second half of Chile's friendly against Colombia, which ended in a goalless draw.

"The medical team of the Chilean National Team informs that the player Alexis Sanchez presented in the second half of the match with Colombia [suffered] dislocation of left ankle peroneal tendons with retinal compromise," the statement, issued by The Football Federation of Chile read according to the Sun

The Chilean moved to Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal in August. Inter paid around £4.5m of Sanchez’s salary, but they did not have an option to buy the Chilean international as part of the deal.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal forward guided his national team to finish fourth at the 2019 Copa America, held in Brazil where he netted twice.

The Chilean’s high moments were in Arsenal as he joined the Gunners in July 2014 from Barcelona for £30m.

Sanchez netted 60 goals on 166 occasions with the Gunners, as well as, he was nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Players of the Year award in 2017. He left Arsenal in January 2018, moving to the Old Trafford, where he scored only five goals.
