The National Elections Authority, headed by Counselor Hazem Badawi, announced that the number of valid votes was 44 million, 288 thousand and 636 voters, or 98%, and the number of invalid votes was 489,307 thousand, or 1.1%.
The National Elections Authority received all the governorate results after the end of the counting and opened the door for appeals against the decisions of the general committees last Thursday, and announced that it had not received any appeals from the candidates against the results of the general committees.
The executive body of the National Authority reviewed the results of the internal counting and included the results of the external counting and presented them in a consolidated manner to the Board of Directors of the National Authority, which approved the final result of the presidential elections.
Article 140 of the Constitution stipulates that “the President of the Republic shall be elected for a period of six Gregorian years, beginning on the day following the end of his predecessor’s term. He may not assume the presidency for more than two consecutive presidential terms.”
While Article 241 bis of the Constitution stipulates, “The term of the current President of the Republic shall end with the expiration of six years from the date of his announcement of his election as President of the Republic in 2018, and he may be re-elected for a subsequent time.”
