Egyptian actor Ahmed Mekky and Tunisian actress Aïcha Ben Ahmed's upcoming TV series "Al-Ghawi" has seen an internal change, losing Hani Sarhan as a scriptwriter.
The drama is directed by Ahmed Saleh and witnesses Mekky stepping away from the comedy hit TV series “Al-Kabir Awy.”
Tarek El Kashef and Mahmoud Radwan are now tasked to pen the script.
"Al-Ghawi" is produced by Synergy Production Company and is set to debut in the Ramadan 2025 drama marathon.
Mekky was born on June 19, 1980, in Algeria to an Algerian father and an Egyptian mother but grew up in Egypt.
He began his career in showbiz as a short film director after graduating from the Institute of Cinema, such as “Yabanee Asly” (An Original Japanese) before directing in 2005 film “Al Hassa Al Sab’a” (The Seventh Sense), co-starring Ahmed Al Fishawy, which was adapted from a short film that Mekky had previously directed in 2003.
The 43-year-old star had also collaborated with his sister Inas Mekky in directing several television productions, including “Lahazat Harija” (Crucial Moments), and “Tamer wa Shawqiyah” (Tamer and Shawqiyah), in which he also played the role of Haitham Dabour.Ahmed Mekky
Mekky has found success as a slapstick comedic actor with his roles in the 2008 film “H. Dabbour”, in 2009 film “Teer Enta”, the 2010 TV series “El Kabeer Awi”, and the 2010 film “La Tarago Wa La Esteslam”.
He is also known for his performance in season 3 of the TV series "El Ekhteyar" (The Choice).
Along with his career as an actor, Mekky has also continued his stardom by writing and performing rap songs, which he performed in his films or uploaded online.
