Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the second case at the Egyptian Premier League side.

El-Shennawy hasn’t been the start up goalkeeper for Pyramids, which favoures first-choice goalkeeper El-Mahdi Soliman.

The 29-year-old has made 19 appearances for Pyramids across all competitions last season, keeping seven clean sheets.

Unfortunately, he is set to miss two weeks of Pyramids’ preseason ahead of the new Egyptian Premier League campaign after swabs confirmed El-Shenawy contracted the virus.

He now becomes the second player at the club to test positive for COVID-19 following Ali Gabr, who was recently on international duty for Egypt.
