The African Judo Championship kicks off next Wednesday at Cairo Stadium.

35 countries are participating in the African Judo Championship, Angola, Algeria, Botswana, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Tanzania, Zambia and Egypt.

The African Judo Championship will be held from April 24 to 28 and is of great importance as it is one of the qualifying tournaments for the Paris 2024 Olympics, with the first-placed team receiving 700 points.

The qualification system for the Paris Olympics in judo depends on collecting points by participating in international tournaments, a difficult system that requires participation in the largest number of tournaments and winning titles in order to snatch the ticket to qualify for the Olympics.
