The African Cup Winners' Cup for handball "men and women" will begin today, Tuesday.
The 39th edition of the tournament will be held at Al-Ahly Club until May 19. There are 21 teams, 10 in the men's competition and 11 in the women's competition.
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be held in the presence of Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly Club, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Hassan Mustafa, President of the International Handball Federation, Mansouro Aremo, President of the African Union, members of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club, and Egyptian and African handball officials.
The groups of the tournament, after the withdrawal of the Cameroonian team Fab, are as follows:
Group A (Men):
Zamalek (Egypt) – Widad Samara (Morocco) – GSK (DR Congo) – Vans (Cameroon) – Red Star (Côte d'Ivoire).
Group B (Men):
Al Ahly (Egypt) – Sporting (Egypt) – Raja Agadir (Morocco) – Kirkos (Ethiopia).
Group A (Women):
Petro Atlético (Angola) – DGSP (Republic of Congo) – Mokenin (Tunisia) – Sporting (Egypt) – Vans (Cameroon)
Group B (Women):
First of August (Angola) – Habitat (Côte d'Ivoire) – Al Ahly (Egypt) – Otoho (Republic of Congo) – Nouaceur (Morocco)
