The Africa Investment Forum (AIF) recorded investment commitments exceeding $15.2 billion during the 2025 “Market Days” edition, hosted in the Moroccan capital Rabat for the second consecutive year, according to Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group.
Speaking at the forum’s closing session on Friday evening, Ould Tah said the impressive figure reflects “the strong interest investors have shown in the transactions presented during the boardroom meetings,” which this year featured 39 bankable, finance-ready projects.
Ould Tah stressed that the real challenge now lies in converting these commitments into tangible projects on the ground.
“A dedicated and rigorous follow-up process will be put in place to ensure these expressed interests translate into actual investments and the execution of the relevant projects,” he said.
He added that the projects showcased in Rabat were supported by comprehensive environmental and social impact studies, detailed feasibility analyses, and professionally structured financial models, factors that contributed significantly to the strong investor appetite.
According to Ould Tah, nearly two-thirds of the boardroom sessions focused on key strategic sectors where Morocco and the AfDB hold considerable expertise, especially energy and transport.
He described the close of the 2025 AIF edition as “a new beginning that inspires great optimism for the future of investment on the African continent.”
The 2025 African Investment Forum opened on Wednesday under the theme: “Bridging Gaps: Mobilizing Private Capital to Unleash Africa’s Full Potential.”
The event brought together policymakers, international investors, development finance institutions, and private-sector leaders to explore innovative financing opportunities capable of accelerating transformative growth across Africa.
